Introducing Niyogi Books’s latest and youngest imprint – Perky Parrot. And as you might have already guessed it is our children’s imprint. Author’s objective is to entertain young readers (and develop a love for reading).

As a part of offerings, the author has a set of three interesting titles by eminent author and craft revivalist Jaya Jaitly:    

1. Bhajju’s Flock and the Tick-Tock Clock:

In this charming tale, Bhajju, a young forest dweller, encounters the concept of time through a tick-tock clock. Illustrated in the Gond style, this story explores themes of time, cultural differences, and the magic of imagination.

2. How Ganesha Got His Laddoos:

A delightful tale of Ganesha navigating the challenges of not receiving his favorite laddoos. Illustrated in the Pattachitra style, this story offers a heartwarming lesson on overcoming obstacles and persevering.

Apindra Swain, a Pattachitra artist from Raghurajpur, Odisha, breathes new life into this ancient style by incorporating contemporary themes, thereby making it accessible and engaging for today’s children.

3. Hira Paints the Town:

Follow Hira, a passionate painter, as she moves to a dull city and strives to keep her vibrant dreams alive. Illustrated in the Madhubani style, this story beautifully depicts her journey of maintaining her creative spirit in a new environment.

Illustrator: Heera Kant

Heera Kant, an accomplished Madhubani artist from Bihar, continues to celebrate and sustain the intricate Madhubani tradition through her vibrant illustrations, captivating young readers with its cultural richness.

Art Style: Madhubani

In this series, we tried to marry our folk art forms with riveting storytelling to make the experience of reading fun and relatable all across the country and every strata of society. (Age Group: 4-8 years)
